Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Droichead Nua Vocational School.

36.

asked the Minister for Education the steps that have been taken to provide a new school which is urgently needed for the pupils of Droichead Nua Vocational School, County Kildare.

Mr. R. Burke

The County Kildare VEC has been authorised to negotiate for a site from one of the religious communities in the area. Planning for the new vocational school may proceed as soon as agreement is reached in regard to the acquisition of the site.

The Minister is aware that the exact location of this site is not yet known and that the county vocational committee has been faced with the problem of deciding between two sites and of negotiating between two sites. Could the Minister give any idea as to when this school will be available to the pupils in Droichead Nua?

Mr. R. Burke

Obviously, if I am not able to give the Deputy an indication of the site presently available, I cannot give him the other indication. I have personally taken an interest in this matter as the Deputy will be aware. I met a deputation on which he was included on 10th October and I tried to expedite the matter by sending officials down. There is no undue delay.

I appreciate that.
