I do not propose to alter the long-standing practice whereby my Department do not return to candidates their answer papers in the leaving certificate examination.
Has it been the experience in the past that mistakes have been found in the marking of papers?
Mr. R. Burke
I think it is reasonable to assume that any system of marking will turn up mistakes from time to time but these are kept to a minimum in the Department. We have checks and procedures to see to this.
