The headings of the customs and excise tariff on which trade statistics are based distinguish between pure-bred and other animals. The number of horses other than pure-bred animals exported in the period January to September, 1973, was 7,842.
Would the Parliamentary Secretary not think it advisable at this stage, in view of the high cost of oil and the fact that farmers may find it difficult to get contractors to do their tilling, to suspend immediately the export of all working horses?
That is not a matter on which I have to offer an opinion in the House.
