asked the Minister for Finance if any progress has been made regarding the restoration of Trim Castle, County Meath.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Trim Castle Restoration.
14.
Mr. Kenny
The answer is "no". The Commissioners of Public Works are not empowered under the National Monuments Acts to incur expenditure on restoring Trim Castle or any national monument. Over the years there have been proposals by private interests for the restoration of Trim Castle but none of them has yet come to fruition.
I take it from the Parliamentary Secretary's reply that the possibility of the owner joining a private limited company with local farm interests has not been proceeded with?
Mr. Kenny
That would depend on the consent of the owner, Lord Dunsany. He has not given any indication of being interested.
