Vol. 271 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Council of Industrial Design.

64.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if the Council of Industrial Design have made any report to him; and, if so, if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Council of Industrial Design have not submitted a report to me.

Do I understand correctly that this council are to submit a report in due course?

Can the Minister do anything to expedite the report being finalised?

I think perhaps the exchange we are having at the present time may help to expedite it. I will certainly pass on my thoughts and those of the Deputy to them. In fairness, perhaps I should add that they have a large task. I do not want undue haste. I appreciate that many of these people are giving time for very little return. Therefore I do not want to appear to think that they are being derelict. I want them to take a reasonable time to do it.

I would not be critical either. It is just that I am anxious to see something constructive.
