(Cavan): Such a promotion is not envisaged by my Department.
Could the Minister give the reasons for that? It seemed to me a good idea.
(Cavan): To me, a flag day is a source of raising money and I do not think it would be proper for the Department of Lands, or any other Department, to raise money by such means.
What I had in mind is that such a flag day would bring public attention to the activities of the Department and the moneys could then be distributed to the voluntary organisations.
(Cavan): I still do not think it would be appropriate for the Department of Lands to engage in a flag day. The sort of publicity the Deputy has in mind is got in other ways.
