A discussion took place on Thursday last, 25 April, 1974, with the Irish Medical Association and the Medical Union regarding the membership and terms of reference of the review body. I am considering the views expressed by the organisations and I hope to make an announcement about the matter at an early date. The Deputy will understand that, in view of this, the other points mentioned in his question cannot be answered at this stage.
When does the Minister expect the body will be set up?
I hope to have it established within the next few weeks. I will have the meeting with the doctors in the very near future.
Is it the Minister's intention not to make any change in relation to the health services so far as they are affected by this review body until the report of the body has been considered?
The report of the review body will enable me, in consultation with the medical organisations, to come to what I hope will be a happy solution.
I take it from that that there will be no change until after the review body have reported.
