Persons in an employment in the Civil Service in respect of which a superannuation allowance may be granted who were voluntary contributors before 1st April, 1974, are, following the removal of the remuneration limit on social insurance for non-manual employees, compulsorily insurable from that date and are no longer entitled to be voluntary contributors. Their compulsory insurance from 1st April, 1974 covers them for widows (contributory) pension, orphans (contributory) allowance, deserted wife's benefit and occupational injuries benefit.
