Vol. 272 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Tipperary Water Scheme.

24.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will give an early decision following the public inquiry held last December in connection with the Templemore supplementary water supply scheme, County Tipperary, in view of the critical water need in the town.

I will give my decision in this matter as early as possible.

Knowing the Minister's energy and determination I should be able to interpret that. Has he, as yet, received a report as a result of the public inquiry.

Yes. The transcript of evidence was received on 25th February, 1974, and the inspector furnished his report on the 10th May, 1974, four days ago.

In view of the very critical position in Templemore town and that it is his personal decision and responsibility, I would ask the Minister not to delay in coming to a decision.

I am very anxious to help Deputy O'Kennedy——

Not Deputy O'Kennedy, but the people of Templemore.

I am sure the Deputy is aware that it is not as simple as he thinks. Even after a provisional order is granted, any of the objectors can, within five weeks of notice of the provisional order, make a petition to the Circuit Court.

Question No. 25.

It is because of those formalities that I am anxious the Minister make a provisional order as quickly as possible.

I can assure the Deputy that there will be no delay as far as I am concerned.
