Vol. 273 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Offaly Unemployment Benefit.

15.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare why unemployment benifit has not been paid to the widow of a person in Edenderry, County Offaly, which is due since 8th June last.

The unemployment benefit in question covered five days benefit which was due to the late husband at the date of his death and it has now been paid to his widow. I very much regret the long delay in making the payment which was due to the apparent mislaying of a relevant document and a serious failure in my Department to follow the matter through. I am taking steps to ensure that any corrective measures which may be found to be necessary are taken.
