Vol. 273 No. 8

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - ACC Loans.

3.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is satisfied that in giving priority for loans to those who have invested money in the ACC that body will not prevent small farmers unlikely to have money invested from obtaining loans.

Mr. Kenny

The condition about having money invested with the Agricultural Credit Corporation does not prevent small farmers from getting ACC loans.

This condition applies to land purchase loans only. ACC loans for land purchase are given to farmers with approved development plans under which additional land is required or to farmers who have money invested in the corporation's deposit scheme. The corporation will consider applications for loans for any other agricultural purpose irrespective of whether or not the applicants have money on deposit with the corporation.

4.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of money lent to farmers by the ACC for the erection of new houses in the last six months; and how this compares with the previous six months.

Mr. Kenny

The amount of loans for the erection of houses issued by the ACC in the six-month period 1st December, 1973, to 31st May, 1974, was £1.58 million. In the previous six months the amount was £1.73 million.
