Vol. 274 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Termination of Postman's Employment.

22.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will reconsider the decision to terminate the employment of a person (name supplied) as a postman in Galway city.

The person concerned has now appealed against the decision to terminate his services. His appeal will be carefully considered.

In considering the appeal would the Minister ensure that a medical examination is carried out by an independent medical officer?

I understand the person concerned states that he is willing to be examined by any doctor nominated by the Department. The Chief Medical Officer will have to be consulted about the matter and I shall certainly bear in mind what the Deputy says.

Will the Minister keep an eye on it?
