Vol. 275 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Roscommon Housing Loans.

6.

asked the Minister for Local Government the money paid to Roscommon County Council to cover loans for housing since April, 1974; if any further such moneys are due to the county council; and, if so, when they will be paid.

A total of £175,000 has been issued from the Local Loans Fund to Roscommon County Council in respect of the payment of house purchase loans. Having regard to the council's current credit balance on their loan account, I am satisfied that a further sum of £40,000 will be sufficient to enable them to meet their requirements to 31st December next and I have, accordingly, arranged for the issue of this amount from the Local Loans Fund.

Could the Minister say when the money will be issued?

The money has been authorised for payment and I see no reason why it should not be paid. Incidentally, I understand Roscommon County Council alleged they had not got money in hand, but Roscommon County Council at that time had money to pay the loans which they said they had not got the money to pay.

From the Road Fund?

From the SDA loans.

Questions Nos. 7 and 8 postponed.
