Vol. 275 No. 8

Written Answers. - Unemployment Benefit Claimant.

339.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare why a person (name supplied) in County Laois has been refused unemployment benefit since 27th September, 1974, despite the fact that he cannot find employment.

A claim to unemployment benefit was made by the person on 6th May, 1974, and payment was admitted up to 26th September. On review of the claim at that stage a deciding officer disallowed further payment on the ground that the claimant did not continue to satisfy the qualifying condition that he was available for employment. The deciding officer has, however, since accepted new evidence to the contrary which has been brought to notice and has removed the disallowance. The arrears of benefit due from 27th September have, accordingly, now been paid.
