Vol. 275 No. 8

Ceisteanna——Questions. Oral Answers. - Playing Field Application.

39.

asked the Minister for Lands why the application of the Firies GAA club for some land on the Dunleavy estate, Firies, County Kerry for a playing field was not considered; and if, in view of the importance of athletics to young people, he will make a statement on the matter.

Cavan): As the Deputy may be aware, the Dunleavy holding referred to was allotted in July last to four adjoining congests. I am informed that the application of the Firies GAA club was given full consideration by the Land Commission in connection with the disposal of the lands but it was not found possible to provide a playing field.

The needs of the club are on record and will be carefully considered in the event of suitable land coming into the hands of the Land Commission in the area.
