Vol. 275 No. 8

Ceisteanna——Questions. Oral Answers. - Visits Abroad.

78.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will give details of each visit to a foreign country undertaken since 31st March, 1974 including the overall cost of such visit and the advantage for this country arising therefrom.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to circulate with the Official Report a statement setting out the date, destination, purpose and cost of each visit.

With regard to the advantage for the country arising from these visits, the Deputy will appreciate that travel abroad is an essential part of my functions as Minister for Foreign Affairs in the maintenance and development of relations with foreign Governments and international organisations and is also necessary for the promotion of Irish interests abroad.
