Vol. 276 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Planning Application Leaflet.

55.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will issue a new leaflet which will explain the manner in which planning applications are made and how to obtain advice concerning locations and other matters on which developers are likely to need help and guidance.

The operation of planning control in an area is a matter primarily for the appropriate local planning authority and the best advice which can be given is that persons concerned should approach their planning authority for any necessary guidance or help. My Department have exhorted planning authorities to give all possible advice and assistance to people wishing to carry out development. When the current Planning Bill has gone through, I will consider whether it would be desirable to have something issued for the general guidance of the public.

Is it not true that such leaflets have been issued by the Department of Local Governments in the past?

If the leaflets were issued in the past the Deputy's question would be unnecessary.

They might issue new leaflets.

I will consider it.
