Vol. 276 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cavan Regional Hospital.

45.

asked the Minister for Health when work will start on the new regional hospital in Cavan town.

As I stated in reply to a number of questions on Wednesday 23rd October, 1974, Official Report, Volume 275, columns 23-30, about different hospitals, a Cabinet sub-committee is considering the proposals for hospital development which evolved from examination by the various health administrative bodies and announcements will be made as consideration is completed. In the meantime, I am not in a position to make a statement about individual hospitals.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary say what is the time limit for the Cabinet sub-committee? Surely there must be some proposals in relation to its recommendations in the near future? It has been sitting for quite a while.

My information is that the instructions to them from the Minister for Health were to proceed with all possible speed.

Is there any time limit?

At this very moment the Minister is meeting a deputation with regard to Cavan hospitals.

Is there any time limit for the Cabinet sub-committee which is seemingly holding up the whole show?

Not that I know.
