The scheme for the distribution of subsidised seed in the congested districts was terminated in 1973 when it had become clear that the need for it had ceased because of the availability of good quality seed generally in these areas. Special arrangements have, however, been made to continue the supply of seed to islands off the coast of Donegal, Mayo, Galway and Cork.
