A claim by the Representative Body for gardaí for special compensation for duty at week-ends, on public holidays and at night was considered by an arbitration board established in accordance with the scheme of conciliation and arbitration for the Garda Síochána. The report of the chairman of the board, containing the board's finding on the claim, was presented to the Dáil on 2nd December, 1974, together with notice that the Government proposed to give effect to the finding immediately and in full.
