Vol. 277 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo Retirement Pension.

75.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason for the delay in payment of a retirement pension to a person (name supplied) in County Mayo.

The person in question has not reached pension age and is not yet eligible for old age pension. He has claimed retirement pension but on the basis of his insurance record in this country he does not satisfy the contribution conditions for the award of retirement pension. In view of his periodic employment in Britain, however, he may have some pension entitlement under EEC regulations on a combination of his British and Irish insurances. Details of his Irish insurance have been supplied to the British authorities and final details of his British insurance and their determination of his pension entitlement under EEC regulations are required to enable his Irish entitlement under these regulations to be determined. The British authorities have been requested to expedite their examination of the case and, if entitlement exists, to make provisional pension payment to the claimant pending final determination of his claim.
