Kerry County Council have requested my sanction to a loan of £86,300 from the council's treasurer to finance the cost of the proposed branch library at Killarney. Sketch plans of the proposal have been approved by the Department and the local authority have now been requested to submit working drawings to the Department for approval. I cannot make any decision regarding sanction of the loan until the working drawings are approved.
In view of the fact that there is a great need for a library in Killarney will the Minister state whether he will be in a position to sanction the loan for the scheme soon?
I cannot do it until the working drawings have been approved. If Deputy O'Leary can persuade the county council to submit the working drawings to the Department for approval, I assure him that there will be no unnecessary delay.
