Vol. 278 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Non-Civil Servant Employees.

26.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of persons who are not civil servants employed by him since March, 1973; their names: their status; and their salaries.

There are some 2,800 persons employed by me who are not regarded as civil servants so far as pay and status are concerned, of whom approximately 250 were appointed since March, 1973. Of this total the great majority are engaged on a contract for service basis and the remainder are employed in an extensive variety of occupations. The rate of remuneration and terms of contract or employment vary widely. To assemble the detailed information sought by the Deputy would be unduly costly in staff time and money.
