(Cavan): The area of State forest destroyed or damaged by fire in the year 1973-74 was 728 acres. While this showed an increase over the year 1970-71 of 286 acres it represented a reduction from the year 1972-73 of 532 acres.
Measures for the protection of State forests are kept under continuing review the aim being to secure the best forms of protection at an acceptable level of cost.
