Vol. 279 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Road Works.

4.

(Dublin Central) asked the Minister for Local Government if he will give an undertaking that the Holy Faith convent and school in the Coombe, Dublin, will not be adversely affected by any new road building in the area.

The Dublin Corporation have sought approval in principle to a traffic plan for central Dublin which provides for a new link road from New Street to Cork Street. Pending examination in detail of this plan and its implications I am not in a position to comment on any particular aspect of the proposals.

(Dublin Central): Is the Minister aware that recent plans exhibited by the corporation indicate they are going to take part of the Holy Faith convent and school?

In view of the fact that I may have to exercise a quasijudicial function on this matter, it would not be in order for me to comment.

(Dublin Central): When it comes to the Minister's attention I hope he will give the matter due regard. The community are very concerned about it.

I always give due regard to the rights of people.
