Vol. 281 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Disability Allowances.

14.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare why payments of disability benefit to a person (name supplied) in County Galway have not been made on a regular basis; and if he will ensure that future payments will be made when due.

Payments of disability benefit have been made promptly to the person referred to by the Deputy according as medical certificates were received in my Department. He did, however, report the non-receipt of a cheque which issued to him on 4th April, 1975. Necessary inquiries concerning encashment of this cheque are being made and a decision on the issue of a replacement cheque will be made as soon as possible.

15.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare why an increase in disability allowance for a qualified person (name supplied) in County Wicklow was not paid from 1st April, 1975.

The weekly rate of disability benefit paid to the person referred to by the Deputy was increased as from 7th April, 1975 the date from which the Social Welfare Act, 1975, which implemented the budget proposals for increases in all social welfare benefits, came into operation in relation to disability benefit.
