With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 28, 29, 30, 31 and 32 together.
As the Deputy is aware from my statement in reply to a question from him last July, parents in the Doire Bhó Riada district will have the opportunity of sending their children to the new Gaeltacht school in Sraith Salach, as soon as that school, at present under construction, has been completed.
The Department have sanctioned a grant towards essential maintenance works at Doire Bhó Riada school which will improve the building in the meantime. New window frames are included in these works, but it is not proposed that a new central heating system or sanitation system be included.
An accurate estimate of the cost of these works is not yet available but the grant will be on the basis of two-thirds of the cost, as approved by the Commissioners of Public Works.

If the Parliamentary Secretary had indicated in respect of Question No. 31 that no money was spent, surely he is not telling the House that he was not in a position to give that one sentence in the Irish language? He has answered other questions in Irish before now.
It is a grave reflection on the Irish language and on the attitude of this Government that a Parliamentary Secretary answering on behalf of the Minister for Education cannot answer in Irish. Is mór an trua é.
