Vol. 284 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Barley and Wheat Prices.

31.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the likely farm-gate prices for wheat and barley in the coming harvest and the comparative prices for these products in 1974.

The Irish Flour Millers' Association have guaranteed to producers this year a minimum price of £62 per tonne for millable wheat at 20 per cent moisture. The price of feeding barley is a matter for negotiation between producers and grain merchants and is likely to be well above the intervention price level of £57.77 per tonne at 16 per cent moisture. Approximate average prices paid to producers last year for grain at 20 per cent moisture were £58 per tonne for millable wheat and £50 per tonne for feeding barley.
