Vol. 285 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Lifts in Government Offices.

17.

asked the Minister for Finance why Government offices have not been equipped with Irish-made electrically operated lifts in view of the fact that within the European Community medium sized firms with local markets have provided such lifts successfully and economically.

It is standard practice where lifts are required for State buildings to invite competitive tenders from Irish and other firms, generally by public advertisement. Irish firms have tendered successfully for some of these lifts.

Where buildings are rented the developers will already have installed lifts of their own choice.

Can the Parliamentary Secretary say in which buildings Irish lifts have been installed? The ones I see are mostly English.

If the Deputy puts down a separate question every effort will be made to supply him with that information.

That information is usually in the brief.
