asked the Minister for Education if he will reconsider his decision regarding the erection of a play shelter at Ballyshannon national school, Kilcullen, County Kildare.

Although, as a rule, playshelters are no longer provided in national schools, my Department sanctioned exceptionally a play shelter for Ballyshannon national school at a cost which it was estimated would be £500. The manager subsequently proposed to have a shelter erected at a cost of £2,195. My Department considered that expenditure of this order for the item in question would be excessive and unwarranted, and refused sanction for the proposal. I concur fully in the decision taken in the case.
