The person referred to by the Deputy has applied to the Galway Board of Conservators for a salmon drift net licence for the 1976 salmon fishing season. The board will be meeting shortly to allocate salmon net licences and applicants will be advised of the outcome. The issue of salmon drift net licences is a matter for each board of conservators without the need for reference to my Department.
