Vol. 288 No. 4

Written Answers. - Board and Lodging Assessment.

56.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare how an assessment of £10 per week in respect of benefit or privilege of board and lodging on his aunt's farm was derived in the case of a person (name supplied) in County Galway.

The means of the person concerned were assessed by a deciding officer for unemployment assistance purposes on the basis of the estimated value to him of free board and lodging on his aunt's holding, which carries a very large flock of sheep and lambs. He was advised that it was open to him to appeal against the deciding officer's decision if he was dissatisfied with it but he has not done so up to the present.
