Vol. 288 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Laois Unemployment Benefit.

8.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare why a person (details supplied) in County Laois who has been signing on for unemployment benefit since December, 1975, has not yet been paid benefit.

In order to be entitled to unemployment benefit on his claim of 5th January, 1976, the person concerned would require to have had at least 26 contributions paid or credited in respect of the 1974 contribution year. Before his claim could be allowed inquiries were necessary regarding the stamping of his 1974 insurance card. These inquiries have been completed and arrangements were made to have payment of all unemployment benefit due made to him this week. Further payments will be made as they fall due.
