asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if, in view of the large number of unemployed in the Tallaght area, Dublin at present, he will state the proposals the IDA or his Department have to provide additional employment in the area.

I have been informed by the Industrial Development Authority that a new project which it announced for Tallaght at the end of last year will provide employment for 178 people at full production. A small number are already employed in this project.
The new project by General Motors which commenced production in Tallaght in February, 1975, has an employment potential for about 230 more people.
I also understand from the authority that two firms located elsewhere in Dublin are transferring operations to new plants in Tallaght. On full transfer of operations the new Tallaght plant of one of these firms will provide net additional employment opportunities for 43 people.
