I have not yet received the report of the commission who were set up to examine the structure of the Aviation and Meteorological Services in my Department and to make recommendations about the salaries, salary relativities and conditions of service of certain grades in those services. The commission were set up in early 1972 but I understand that well over a year elapsed before they received written submissions from the staff associations involved. Most of the commission's time since then has, I believe, been taken up with the hearing of very detailed and protracted oral submissions by the various associations. The commission are now formulating their conclusions and recommendations and I expect to have their report in some months' time.
