asked the Minister for Education if, in respect of national schools in the Finglas/ Ballymun area of Dublin, he will make a statement on the two improvements in the student/teacher ratios which were carried out during the past three years.

The information requested by the Deputy is in the form of a tabular statement which, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to circulate with the Official Report.

Would the Minister say whether or not the information which he proposes circulating will show that there has been the improvements to which he referred publicly?

If that is so would the Minister accept from me that it is not in accordance with the position as I know it?

When the Deputy reads the statement he will be able to make his own deductions.

Would the Minister accept that in that area at the moment there are classes with a student/ teacher ratio of 50 to 1?

I am not presently advised that this is so. If the Deputy would refer to the tabular statement perhaps he can come back and ask me a specific question.
