Vol. 291 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Municipal Buildings.

22.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding the proposal of Dublin Corporation to erect municipal buildings at Winetavern Street-Wood Quay.

There are no proposals before me in regard to this project.

That is a strange answer.

It is a strange question.

The Minister has sanctioned them already?

Ask a silly question.

It is not a silly question. Rumours are going around that something may have happened to the corporation's plans.

The Opposition have been notoriously incorrect in their rumours for quite some time.

Not our rumours.

This is another rumour and I am afraid they have picked up the wrong end of the strand. The Deputy got a reply from the city manager on 3rd May about this matter. Did he not believe that reply? Did he not accept it? If he did accept it, why did he ask me a similar question?

It is not the manager I disbelieve.

The only people who have been found out in lies in this House are on that side of the House.

The Minister is becoming nasty now.

The building is to go ahead?

There are no such proposals before me. Some time ago we cleared all that remained to be cleared. The Deputy knows this. I do not know who has told him this story, which appears to be wrong.

Is the Minister denying what I say?

No, but I know nothing about the rumour to which the Deputy refers.

Next question.
