I would refer the Deputy to my reply to a question on Wednesday, 21st January last regarding the services which will be available in community hospitals (Official Report, Volume 287, No. 1, columns 11-14).
Since then a working group has been set up, comprising officials of my Department and of the health boards, to study the practical application of the community hospital concept to selected hospitals.
The working group will produce as quickly as possible a discussion document. Following consultations on this document, the services to be provided in the selected hospitals will be determined.
