asked the Minister for Justice when the Land Registry registered the titles of 23 vested cottiers (details supplied) under the Portlaoise Town Commission; the names of the house owners; if Portlaoise Town Commission has yet been notified of the establishment of the titles; and when the 23 people can regard the houses as being their own.

Transfer orders in respect of 23 houses were submitted to the Land Registry on 5th February, 1976. One transfer order was withdrawn by the Portlaoise Town Commissioners on 26th April, 1976, and this has not since been resubmitted to the Land Registry. Registration in the remaining 22 cases was completed on 13th May, 1976, and Portlaoise Town Commissioners were notified to this effect on that date.
It is not the practice, and I consider that it would be inappropriate for me, to publicise the names of persons who have been concerned in transactions in the Land Registry. The Land Registration Rules, 1972, contain provisions whereby, subject to certain conditions, documents, folios, and so on, may be inspected in the registry. In regard to the final part of the question, I can only suggest that the Deputy communicate with Portlaoise Town Commissioners in the matter.
