Cavan): The question of the future ownership and use of the Grand and Royal Canals has been under examination and proposals in that connection have been formulated by my Department. I expect that the matter will be considered by the Government shortly.
Would the Minister accept that if action is not taken very soon the cost of restoring the Grand Canal will be prohibitive?
(Cavan): It is a fact that the cost of work of this nature is increasing. However the Deputy will be glad to know that I will be bringing proposals before the Government in the very near future.
