asked the Minister for Labour the number of industrial disputes recorded for each of the years 1969 to 1976; and the estimated annual loss to the economy as a result of the disputes.

The number of industrial disputes recorded by the Central Statistics Office for each of the years 1969 to 1976 are as follows:

The figure for 1976 is an estimated one.

With regard to the second part of the question concerning the estimated loss to the economy as a result of the disputes such information is not available. One quantifiable loss over these years which can be identified is the loss of man days due to disputes which according to Central Statistics Office figures have been as follows:
