Vol. 299 No. 3

Written Answers. - Tax-Free Allowance.

75.

asked the Minister for Finance why a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath has not been allowed any tax-free allowance on his earnings although he handed in his tax-free certificate to the Office of Public Works when he commenced employment with them.

The tax free allowance certificate was not received in the Office of Public Works accounts branch until some little time after the employee in question commenced work so the emergency tax basis of calculation was temporarly applied to him. Through oversight, this method was repeated but the necessary adjustment has now been made and the over-deduction of tax will be refunded in full next pay day.
