Vol. 299 No. 9

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

63.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare why unemployment benefit has not been paid to a person (name supplied) in County Offaly who has been waiting for some months.

The claim for unemployment benefit of the person concerned was disallowed by a deciding officer on the grounds that he was incapable of work for the period from 7th February to 19th February, 1977, and that he was not available for employment on and from 21st February, 1977. He has appealed against this decision and arrangements are being made for an appeal hearing at which it will be open to him to attend and give evidence on his own behalf. He will be notified of the place, time and date of the hearing.

64.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare when unemployment assistance will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Meath who is signing at Nobber Garda station.

Payment of the unemployment assistance due to the person concerned on his application of 5th April, 1977, less a deduction in respect of home assistance due to his health board was made by post on Friday last. Further payments will continue as they fall due.

65.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare when pay-related benefit will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Meath who has been out sick since last November.

The entitlement to pay-related benefit of the person referred to by the Deputy could not be established as the PAYE serial number given by him on his claim form was incorrect and an inquiry which issued to him in connection therewith was not returned. However, the PAYE serial number supplied by the Deputy with the question has enabled entitlement to pay-related benefit to be established and payment of the amount due was made on 18th May, 1977.

66.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if pay-related benefit will be paid to a person in County Meath (details supplied).

Arrangements have been made to have all arrears of pay-related benefit due to the person concerned on his claim of 15th February, 1977, paid to him by post during the current week.

The information on the records available to my Department at the time of his claim had shown his earnings in the governing income-tax year to be below the minimum necessary to give title to pay-related benefit. Following the furnishing of additional information by the person concerned his entitlement to pay-benefit was reassessed at the weekly rate of £14.40.
