Vol. 300 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - River Shannon Language Signs.

33.

asked the Minister for Finance if, in view of the large number of continental tourists using the River Shannon and a number of deaths in recent years of such persons on the river, he will ensure the erection of a number of multilingual signs before next season.

It is hoped to replace the existing warning notices on the Shannon navigation by self-explanatory warning symbols before the start of the main tourist season next year. They will be intelligible to all visitors, regardless of language. Symbols are preferable to multi-lingual notices on account of the large mix of nationalities on the navigation.
