asked the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Energy if he will state in respect of Board na Móna for 1975, 1976 and 1977 to date: (a) the total wages and salaries at the Board's head office (b) the total wages and salaries in respect of research and experimentation (c) the total wages and salaries in respect of production and maintenance at the Board's works, and (d) the percentage each represents of the total for each year.

asked the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Energy the present position regarding pensions for widows of manual workers in Bord na Móna.

asked the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Energy if he will state in respect of the superannuation schemes in Bord na Móna: (a) the number of contributing members to the scheme for manual workers together with the number of service pensions and the number of widows' pensions in payment under this scheme; (b) the number of contributing members to the scheme for non-manual workers together with the number of service pensions and the number of widows' pensions in payment under this scheme; and (c) the number of employees who retired under each scheme in the past three years.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 304 and 305 together.

The schemes to which the Deputy's questions refer are:—(a) the Bord na Móna Regular Works Employees Superannuation Scheme which covers manual workers and; (b) The Bord na Móna General Employees Superannuation Scheme which covers mainly non-manual workers.

The information requested is set out below.

(a) Regular Works Employees Superannuation Scheme.

There are no proposals on hands at present for the introduction of a pension scheme within the board to cover the widows of members of the Board na Móna Regular Works Employees Superannuation Scheme. The members of that scheme are however covered by the provisions of the Social Welfare Acts in relation to pensions for widows.

asked the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Energy the total number of employees of Bord na Móna normally regarded as regular seasonal workers eligible for admission to the superannuation scheme, including such regular seasonal workers already in the scheme who were employed in each week in (a) 1976 and (b) 1977.

Preparation of the information sought will take some time and if the Deputy would repeat the question in about two weeks the information will be available.

asked the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Energy the total week to week employment of regular and seasonal manual workers in Bord na Móna in 1976, and in 1977 to date.

The information requested by the Deputy is being compiled. If the Deputy would repeat his question in about a week, the information sought will be furnished.

asked the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Energy the number of employees at "peak in 1976 and 1977 as (a) manual workers and as (b) non-manual workers; and the number of (i) manual workers and (ii) non-manual worker at work and on holidays on 31st December, 1976.

I am assuming the question relates to Bord na Móna. The information requested by the Deputy is as follows:

Daily records of employment of workers are not kept by Bord na Móna.

The statistics available which come closest to the information sought in regard to 31st December 1976 relate to employment in the week ending 15th December, 1976 and are a follows:—Manual Workers, 3,422 Non-manual Workers, 836.
