Vol. 301 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Senior Prose Course.

40.

asked the Minister for Education if it is his intention to have the curriculum for the English senior prose course for secondary schools changed or altered in the near future in view of the fact that this syllabus has remained unaltered for many years.

The curriculum for each subject in the programmes for the certificate examinations is decided with due regard to the recommendations of the Syllabus Committee for the subject. Matters relating to the English senior prose course for secondary schools have been considered by the committee but it will be necessary to have them further considered at another meeting for which arrangements are now being made.

Is it the intention of the Minister to change the composition of the Syllabus Committee in any way?

I have no plans for changing the Syllabus Committee at the moment.
