(a) The total number of primary teachers serving in national schools at present is 17,720; (b) the number of such teachers who are holders of posts of responsibility is 7,494; (c) in the year ended 31st October, 1977, the amount of allowances paid in respect of posts of responsibility was £4,105,000.
