Prior to the adoption of the regulations on the supply of milk and milk products at reduced prices to school children discussions took place at the EEC Dairy Products Management Committee meetings which are attended by officials of my Department. As it is not the function of my Department to operate a scheme providing for the supply of milk or milk products in our schools, my Department's responsibilities in the matter ended when the EEC Regulations were adopted.
I am of course in favour of the introduction of any scheme which will result in increasing our milk consumption.
