I move:
That provision be made in the Act giving effect to this Resolution for the imposition, as on and from the 1st day of January, 1978, of—
(a) a duty of excise on tobacco products (that is to say, products specified in that Act made wholly or partly from tobacco) manufactured in or imported into the State, and
(b) a duty of excise on licences to be taken out annually by manufacturers of such products.
This resolution was introduced in pursuance of Standing Order 118, and enables the excise duties on tobacco products and on tobacco products manufacturer's licences to be imposed by the Bill. The adoption of the resolution does not prejudice debate on the provisions of the Bill.
