Vol. 302 No. 3

Written Answers. - County Cavan Concession Road.

277.

(Cavan-Monaghan) asked the Minister for Finance if he will take immediate steps to have the road leading from Derrylin, County Fermanagh to Ballyconnell, County Cavan, declared a concession road.

The approval of cross-Border routes for customs purposes requires the agreement of the UK Customs authorities with whom negotiations have been proceeding for some time regarding the Derrylin-Ballyconnell road. Whilst agreement has not yet been reached for full approval of this road efforts are being made to introduce an interim arrangement, as a special concession, to allow a number of traders in the area to use the road on a limited scale and in respect of certain classes of goods.
